Things are getting rough out in Nevada. Democratic Assemblyman Steven Brooks was just arrested for “threats of physical violence” against Nevada Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick, also a Democrat. Some reports even claim that a weapon was involved, or threatened to be used.

The arrest came on Saturday, January 19, after Brooks made verbal threats against Speaker Kirkpatrick. Early reports had Brooks actually brandishing a weapon but later reports claimed he had just threatened to get his gun that was in his car.

The North Las Vegas Police reports as follows:

North Las Vegas, NV – On January 19, 2013 at about 3:45 p.m. officers responded to a home in the northwestern part of North Las Vegas in reference to a report of threats to an elected public official. It was reported that Assemblyman Steven Brooks (40) of North Las Vegas made threats to harm a fellow State representative.

There must be mental deficiency that is common with politicians as is evident with the Illinois State Senator who attempted to pass through TSA security at O’Hare with a .25 ACP pistol containing a full clip of ammunition in his carryon bag. And the Virginia State Representative who brought an unloaded AK-47 into the chambers, who was not charged at all. If we readers herein had done anything similar; we would be in prison for ten years.

      Speaking I hope for many, but definitely for me, when myself and other use terms like assistance and foodstamps and medicaid, there is the unsaid assumption that the people we are screaming about don’t deserve it. OF COURSE every vet, every person hurt on the job, EVERY person born with a disability–every honorable American you can think of is now whom we are referring to. We are referring to people who chose the free stuff as opposed to pulling up their bootstraps and trying. I was on disability for 5 years from a car accident until I finished school and could provide for my family. Try and get off disability once you are on it. Those clowns at SS couldn’t find bunghole of someone with dysentary even with a smell enhancer. It as a nightmare. None of us, or the honorable among us ever mean someone like you. We mean the people that when you drive by their house during the day, there are 10-12 healthy looking men just hanging out, smoking and drinking, and of course, several cadillacs nearby. Now if I’ve hit on a rehab house for vets, I apologize because you all know that is not what I mean. I mean people who have NEVER tried to get their with their own hard work. I have so much admiration for a person of any gender, any color, who is at Mcdonalds every morning opening the store and making me feel like thier favorite customer every time I come through. My wife has worked up to 3 jobs at one time and I’ve worked since 12 years old execpt for the 4 years I went to school and drew disability after a kid hit me head on. Hell, I couldn’t pay the money back but when they finally figured out 10 years later that my re-payments that I finally got them to take wasn’t enough for them, they stole over 3000 from my IRS return. They really don’t know any more or operate any better than DC. So sir, thank you for your service, and please accept my respect as you receive what you do for a reason. None of these welfare arrows are ever directed at people who earned their foodstamps. Isn’t that a terrible way to express reality? You earned so much more, but that’s all you get. Please take this as a way of explanation to differentiate between honorable men like you and scum like the cypts, bloods, new eme and all the rest of the scum gangs out there. This is no way the same, but when I park in the handicap spot sometimes before I get my placard up and sometimes even after I do, I have people staring at me like I don’t look disabled enough to be able to park there. Reallly pisses me off because I sure as hell earned it. When I crawl out of my truck and get out my wheelchair, the heads turn away real quick. I work in the field of Developmental Disabilites, and there are a lot of people by birth that earned that same spot, but there are always those who think they can judge the disability of a person just by looking. Hard to see heart disease or pancreatic cancer, but they try. Guess they need something to do, We just all have to stick together and help each other through these terrible times.         I defend the Rights of those that either deserve it or are unable to defend themselves so yes it would be an honor to have your back. I am in that group that doesn’t wear a disability on their sleeve and therefore I get the looks of disdain from pompous and judgemental a**holes quite often. I used to get defensive and act out in an aggressive manner but with age comes maturity (usually) and now I just laugh and think that these fools don’t know how lucky they are not to have to walk a day in my boots.         I just go by the motto that God does not give anything we can’t handle. Some days I’m wondering what he is thinking , but so far, even on the days that I didn’t think I could make it, I managed to. One thing that keeps me going besides my wife’s foot up my butt…just kidding….is the picture of my Dad at age 22 building the bridges that the troops used to get to the Elbe so the Germans could give themselves up to America and not Russia. I think what I was doing at 22 and can’t imagine that life and by the time I came along, the war had been over 10 years. That’s my bit of inspiration…if he could live in an ice cold fox hole and get up and do his duty, then whatever God gives me to do I can take. It is an honor conversing with you sir. Today and tomorrow, as millions of Americans celebrate yet another peaceful
reaffirmation of faith in our system of governance and our beloved Republic, I
reflect upon that which we are celebrating, who is celebrating what, and whether
or not our founding fathers would be celebrating.

Truly, we can celebrate how peacefully we transfer and/or re-affirm political
power in this nation. If one ignores the Civil War, no one in the world has done
it so well and for so long. It was, after all, Lincoln’s election, which
triggered secession. That did not end so peacefully. However, the Union
prevailed and we marched on through history, elections and inaugurations, pretty
much without a hick-up, regardless of the issues. Then again, I wonder…

Not since 1861, has this nation been so deeply divided on so many issues.
Even during Vietnam, we had presidents winning by landslides. As bloody as the
civil rights struggle was in the South, the nation, as a whole, was
overwhelmingly supportive of the civil rights movement, something many of
today’s Black leaders conveniently forget. However, today, on almost every
social, political and economic issue, Americans are evenly and deeply
divided.

From before the Revolution to a half century afterwards, all of our founding
fathers wrote, many extensively, on what were and remained viewed as the
“basics” of governance for a free people in a representative republic. For 200
years, the entire world has studied their words and admonitions. True, the world
has changed since September 17, 1787, but not the principles of good
governance.

A nation still cannot long spend more than it earns and produces. Government
cannot long take from the earners, give to the non-earners, and survive. It
consumes the earners and destroys the nation’s wealth. Public debt still
destroys the value of currency and that is a mathematical certainty. Debt is a
tax in itself and it enslaves the taxpayer. Once a nation’s debt exceeds its
ability to repay it, its economy is doomed. All of our founders warned against
deficit spending and public debt.

Our basic individual freedoms and rights as human beings, a minimal list of
which is enumerated in the Bill of Rights, have, until recently, weathered the
centuries relatively unscathed. Some noted exceptions were in the Adams,
Lincoln, Wilson and FD Roosevelt administrations, but did not last. Our basic
freedoms were too precious and too hard won to be traded for temporary safety
and security, we agreed. They have been expanded and extended more than they
have been limited. In deed, the Bill of Rights has remained nearly sacrosanct,
and interestingly, those rights are interdependent. How can one enjoy the
4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, & 9th Amendments without the 1st? How does one enjoy the 1st, 3d, 4th,
9th & 10th Amendments without the 2nd? How does one enjoy the 6th Amendment without the 1st,4th& 5th? I could go on, but the Amendments’ interdependence is no accident. It is a logical absolute. The founders knew that too…

Small, limited and even passive government was universally accepted as the
only safe government for free men throughout most of our history. In deed, our
founders preached that government and freedom were antithetical. Rugged
individualism were the by-words. Men were better off fending for themselves,
rather than trading personal sovereignty for government regulation and largesse.
People would nearly starve to death, rather than take a handout. Bet they do not
teach that in school anymore. The Great Depression brought breath-taking changes
in the roll of government however, but even as late as 1960, we only had eight
cabinet posts and that included the Post Master General. That would soon
change.

External circumstances and technology forced us to deviate from our founders’
warnings about large standing armies and entangling alliances. Even so, a hefty
portion of Americans still have some isolationism left in their marrow and still
view military spending a necessary evil, and it is. However today, the immensity
of evil demands we maintain a force to protect our freedom and our economy
globally. Freedom without food and prosperity can be a difficult proposition.
Moreover, everyone’s freedom and prosperity is interdependent in this small
world. Therefore, today, with a half dozen potential, even likely, nuclear
enemies, not to mention global terrorism, our military demands are greater than
ever.

So where are we on this 56th Inauguration Day? We are $16.4 Trillion
dollars in debt and committed to $21 Trillion in debt by 2016. We have close to
$90 Trillion in un-financed liabilities, which are mathematically impossible to
pay. In the last 12 years, we have witnessed Congress and the last two
presidents make unprecedented, joint, frontal assaults on nine of the ten
amendments in the Bill of Rights, all in the name of public safety and security.
Government is gargantuan. It regulates everything we do from cradle to grave. We
have fifteen cabinet posts with agencies everywhere. We have social programs
that feed, clothe, house, medicate and transport half the nation and paid for by
the other half. Production of critical natural resources are arbitrarily and
obtusely thwarted at every turn. Government employees are so numerous that they
constitute a significant voting block. In deed, counting the military, the
number of federal employees, today, rivals the US population of 3.9 million in
1790. There are 2.1 million civilian employees. Ironically, however, our
military has been reduced to such low numbers, 1.4 million, and funding, that
our military and foreign policy options are nearly down to nuclear war or do
nothing. By 2016, we will face nuclear, Russia, Pakistan, China, India,
North Korea, Iran and possibly Islamic terrorists with several nations
developing global and nuclear navies for the first time in history.

What have we done? In light of these circumstances and crisis, what does the
man, raising his hand today, propose? Will our founding fathers forgive him or
us? Will the Republic and we survive to forgive you Mr. President? Will our kids
survive and forgive us?
