I HAD to get food stamps, because my wife and baby had to eat. I have NEVER felt so ASHAMED as I did having to pay for the bare necessities with those food stamps!! I felt as if I’d failed my family. That shame prompted me to find a new job as soon as I could. Now, they seem PROUD to use them!

      When I was discharged in early 1969 from my 6 year stint in the Military,I was informed I could collect unemployment..I filled out the papers then went and got a job..those things are there to help..and many feel terrible to admit they must collect but today over 47 million are collecting food stamps incl a good amount of those who lost everything at the NJ shore points + nailed by Sandy..today finding a new job isn’t as easy some dickwad opened the floodgates to outsourcing our jobs to ..China and India and a few other countries!

        The countries that you listed, except Germany (which has abandoned socialism for capitalism), are BROKE. Btw, England is looking at trying to end socialized medicine, because people are DYING of easily preventable diseases. People have to wait 3-5 YEARS for cancer treatments, and by then, they’re DEAD.
        
        Until lawyers got involved in frivolous lawsuits, health care in this country was affordable. But with all the lawsuits (think John Edwards and his class action suits against OB/GYNs, and now women have to go to neighboring states), the doctors and hospitals have to pay several millions of dollars in malpractice insurance premiums every year. In Texas, we capped “pain and suffering” at $250,000 – and as a result, malpractice payouts (which go mainly to the lawyers) have dropped to almost nothing. As a result, the doctors and hospitals don’t have to pay those massive premiums, and pass the savings on to the patients. More doctors are moving to Texas, and the competition is driving the costs down further.
        
        Free market works fine as long as the lawyers aren’t involved – and that includes all those lawyers in Congress!!

        Socialism, Communism are dumbbed down versions of the teachings of Karl Marx and the revolt of the people against their leaders is a revolution not a civil war. Gun Laws have twoo purposes. 1.) To disarm the Law Abiding Public. 2) So that law enforcement can come in after a massacre and tell us how many laws were broken, and give us a count on the fatalities. History repeats itself. Actually, there is no gun law in the nation that is legal. Common sense says to keep guns out of the hands of crazies, liberals (brain damaged people) and violent felons on parole. Felons that have paid their debt to society are back on the OK list after they graduate from prison. And whatever weapons, if they can be secured from thieves, should be legal….full autos, rocket and grenade launchers, 105 Howitzers and Abrahms tanks….all legal. Personally, I’d love to have a fully armed Hind to park in my yard, but couldn’t afford one.
Concealed carry, unconcealed carry should be legal too….too bad so many Americans (dang, 50% of the California population to start) are too stupid and inept to handle guns at all so some safety training and gun handling classes should be instituted. Other than that….why not?
