It is so cold in Kentucky that an escaped inmate turned himself back in for the sake of his own health.
ABC News reports that the inmate escaped from a minimum security prison in Lexington, Kentucky, on Sunday. But as temperatures dropped to single digits this morning, police say the man walked into a motel and asked the clerk to call the police.
42-year-old Robert Vick of Hartford told the clerk that he is turning himself in to escape the searing cold.
“This was definitely of his own volition,” Lexington Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said. “It’s cold out there, too cold to run around. I can understand why the suspect would turn himself in.”
