As news about the FCC’s power-grab continues to unfold, Mignon Clyburn’s role assumed dominance in the regime’s latest incursion into unconstitutional waters.
Mignon is the daughter of Jim Clyburn (D- SC), Democrat fixture in The House of Representatives for over 20 years. Former Leader of the Congressional Black Caucus (no, there is no White, Yellow or Green Caucus), Congressman Clyburn is one of the Lyin’ King’s most loyal advocates, voting for the Imperial President’s every wish. He was singled out by the Lyin’ King for praise in connection with Obamacare.
Clyburn has repeatedly referred to “reforming healthcare” as the “civil rights issue of our time.” Mignon’s political beliefs are just as self-righteously ideological. Part of her CV includes this entry on the FCC website “publisher and general manager of The Coastal Times, a Charleston-based weekly newspaper that focused primarily on issues affecting the African American community. She co-owned and operated the family-founded newspaper for 14 years.” Ms. Clyburn doesn’t just want to level the playing field; she wants to transform it.
It is no surprise then that Mignon Clyburn, one of five commissioners of the FCC, was appointed to the FCC by The Lyin’ King in 2009 then reappointed in 2012. She is his “point man” on the FCC’s uncovered witch hunt. Her focuses at the FCC, as stated by Clyburn herself and quoted in Breitbart on Friday is to “(chart a course)…to a more effective delivery of necessary information to all citizens… [the FCC] must emphatically insist that we leave no American behind when it comes to meeting the needs of those in varied and vibrant communities of our nation – be they native born, immigrant, disabled, non-English speaking, low-income, or other.”
To this end, Ms. Clyburn instigated the FCC CIN “study” encompassing eight topics: emergencies and risks, health and welfare, the environment, education, transportation, economic opportunities, civic information, and political information. that, as Breitbart puts it, will “…invade newsrooms around the nation with government contractors who will survey the outlets’ products and decide if they meet Americans’ “critical information needs.”
The problem with that intention? It isn’t that the questions all deal with presumed racial inequity. It is that none of what the FCC is doing is within the FCC’s imprimatur. Who might be the storm troopers of Ms. Clyburn’s inquisition? It wouldn’t be far-fetched to presume it could be an outfit like George Soros’ Media Matters; they are already monitoring “unfriendly-to-the-administration” sites on their own.
There are so many heinous problems surrounding the FCC’s CIN study one hardly knows where to begin. First and foremost, is that the FCC intends to intrude where the Constitution specifically forbids it to go: Newsrooms. This is not a matter of interpretation; it is spelled out in the First Amendment of the Constitution: “Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech or of the press…”
Congress signed off on the creation of the FCC in 1934. Such an incursion is not and never was part of the FCC’s jurisdiction. In short, Constitutional violation, plain and simple. Secondly, there was no approving vote by the FCC Commissioners on the Stasi-like injunction to interrogate the media.
Breitbart quotes another FCC Commissioner, Ajit Pai: “This has never been put to an FCC vote; it was just announced. I’ve never had any input into the process.” This was Ms. Clyburn’s baby, all the way. Third, whose judgment is it that “needs” are not being met by the media in this country? What is, at best, racially biased altruism on the outside smacks of “right-think” media control on the inside.
The FCC posts an outline of the CIN social engineering project online at: http://transition.fcc.gov/bureaus/ocbo/FCC_Final_Research_Design_6_markets.pdf
The prospective societal tinkering is chilling enough. But the grilling that newsrooms are being subjected to has very little to do with that, directly. Ms. Clyburn has launched a work-around to the Fairness Doctrine that is no more. And it is even more beneficial to the regime.
The questioning intends to muzzle any media or news outlets that hold opinions contrary to those sanctioned by Our Dear Leader or dare to disseminate news he doesn’t see as fit to see daylight.
Clyburn’s study began in 2012 yet no alarms have been raised by anyone on the left. Even Ajit Pai’s editorial in the WSJ went unremarked except for those in the Conservative media. If government intrusion is so abhorrent to the press, why no outrage in all that time?
Because the left, the MSM, has been The Lyin’ King’s fifth column ever since 2008. The FCC isn’t concerned about the likes of MSNBC; it intends to hound outlets like FOX News out of business if it can. And now the FCC has signaled their intent to pursue opinion internet outlets, too. Like this one.
FOX News said on Friday that the FCC was “was putting on hold a controversial study of American newsrooms, after complaints from Republican lawmakers and media groups that the project was too intrusive.” The language is significant. “Putting on hold” is not the same as “Scraping.” Nor does it excuse Clyburn’s actions.
As long as The Lyin’ King’s Mignons continue to follow his lead and act unilaterally, getting caught committing unconstitutional acts against Americans remains just a hiccup in statist’s plans.
