The late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s casket, enveloped by the American flag with officers of the court serving as pallbearers, arrived to the high court Friday morning as former law clerks for Scalia lined the steps.
Scalia’s body will lie in repose in the Great Hall of the Supreme Court, where a 2007 portrait of him is on display. The other Supreme Court justices flanked Scalia’s casket as his son, the Rev. Paul Scalia, prayed and presided over a brief ceremony inside. The Supreme Court will hold a public viewing from 10:30 a.m. through 8 p.m. on Friday.
Scalia’s funeral Mass will be held Saturday morning, a week after he died while at a hunting lodge in Texas at the age of 79.
