We could have told you this was going to happen, but why spoil the ‘surprise’.
Qatar, along with Lebanon and Tunisia, has decided to ban the release of Wonder Woman in theaters because the main actress, Gal Gadot, is a strong Israeli supporter.
According to The Jerusalem Post: The film had been scheduled to premiere in Qatar Thursday and was being promoted by local theater chains VOX Cinemas Qatar and Novo Cinemas.
But in the days before its scheduled release, the film was removed from cinema websites, Doha News reported.
Gadot, who served in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), is not afraid to vocalize her support for Israel. In the summer of 2014, she posted this to her Facebook:
I am sending my love and prayers to my fellow Israeli citizens. Especially to all the boys and girls who are risking their lives protecting my country against the horrific acts conducted by Hamas, who are hiding like cowards behind women and children. … We shall overcome!!! Shabbat Shalom! #weareright #freegazafromhamas #stopterror #coexistance #loveidf
Israeli-haters from around the world naturally dog-piled on Gadot. But there were many people praising her too.
Could we see this coming? Yes.
Not only is Gadot an Israeli, but the Wonder Woman film features everything the Islamic culture stands against; strong, independent women who dare to show their hair, ankles and wrists!
The great thing about this whole situation, if you want to take a positive spin to it, is that people who secretly disliked this amazing actress (because of what she stands for) are now forced to show their true colors. Which are their anti-Semitic, anti-Israeli and some could argue anti-woman.
