We all know how much the New York Times loves Trump! Absolutely can’t get enough of him!
Can’t get enough of bashing him, that is.
And their latest claim about the president is no different.
The editorial board of the newspaper just said that President Trump is “helping terrorists” by refusing to talk about gun control after the June 3rd London terror attack.
First off, we would like to point out that attack was carried out with knives and a van. No guns involved.
But that is of no interest to the New York Times.
Also, even as terror attacks become more frequent in Britain (and Europe in general) the NYT still thinks the country is putting “civilian safety” before gun rights.
Is that so? How safe were all those people on June 3rd, when it only took eight minutes to cause so much death? How safe were they when they were left defenseless because they were not allowed to protect themselves?
We feel the victims of the attack would have a different opinion than the news outlet.
The whole discussion started when Trump tweeted this:
Do you notice we are not having a gun debate right now? That's because they used knives and a truck!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 4, 2017
The NYT reacted by describing Trump as “the candidate of the National Rifle Association” and suggested he did not want to talk gun control after the June 3 attacks because he “prefers to discourage any debate in this county about the lethal role played by easily obtainable guns.”
The NYT completely misses the fact that the June 3 attacks happened in London, not here, and they were carried out with knives, not guns. They also avoid connecting the dots. That is, they describe all the gun controls Britain has put in place but they fail to recognize that the controls were impotent to stop the June 3 attacks.
And all of Europe seems to be facing the same mentality towards guns, and the same problems.
France, for example, has very similar gun control laws as Britain. Yet, in 2015 alone terrorists were able to shoot and kill 142 people in the city of Paris.
Still think that gun control is the answer?
During a 2016 appearance on Meet the Press, Trump stressed that terrorists need to have their attacks returned to them. That is to say, shoot back! He stated:
If in Paris or if in California recently, where the 14 people were killed and probably others to follow–in terms of that group because you have some people who are very, very badly wounded–if in Paris they had guns or if in California [they had guns,] on the other side, where the bullets go both ways, not just in one direction. You wouldn’t have had the kind of carnage that you had.
We’ve seen guns, knives, cars, trucks, and sometimes even hammers. All viable weapons that have cost hundreds of lives.
But they didn’t have to. If people had the means to defend themselves, just think about the lives that could have been saved.
Wake up people!
