REPORT: Debbie Wasserman Schultz’ IT Aide May Have Sold State Secrets to Russia, Pakistan

The more digging investigators do on this case, the dirtier it gets. Federal investigators are concerned Imran Awan, Debbie Wasserman Schultz’ (DWS) shady IT staffer, may have given intelligence to Russia and Pakistan, according to a New York Post report.

Officials are reporting the government is in the process of probing if the computer technician had access to classified emails and other communications, to inevitably sell them for information to foreign intel agencies.

Via Hannity: The investigation of Awan began in April of 2016, when Congressional staffers noticed several “irregularities” in the Capitol’s computer equipment and billing information. What began as a suspected case of fraud is now spiraling into a “massive scandal” according to one government aide.

Authorities now believe Awan had access to secret material, and moved that information from government-owned servers to private devices, possibly with the intent to distribute the classified information.

Awan was arrested while trying to flee the country to his hometown, Pakistan. He funneled thousands of dollars to the country ahead of his visit. Awan, arrested in late July, had been barred from Capitol Hill in February. He remained in DWS’s employment until the moment he was arrested.

DWS tried to pull the race card for Awan’s arrest and has stood by her decision to keep Awan employed.

“I believe that I did the right thing, and I would do it again,” Wasserman Schultz said in an interview with the Sun Sentinel. “There are times when you can’t be afraid to stand alone, and you have to stand up for what’s right.”
