Stacey Dash has shrugged off the horrified reactions to her bizarre Oscars appearance, during which she wished the Academy Awards audience a ‘happy Black History month’.
Introducing the outspoken Republican as the new director of the Academy’s ‘minority outreach program’, Chris Rock gave Dash a ten-second cameo to give her greeting.
The Fox commentator has been vocal about her disapproval of Black History Month, as well as the #OscarsSoWhite movement.
However, reacting to her Oscars appearance in a blog post, she appeared to have missed the irony of her role.
She began: ‘You might be watching the Oscars and wondering why someone named Stacey Dash just walked across the stage. (Why was that funny anyway?)’
She continued: ‘Which brings me to the joke. When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes. I’m not “black enough,” they say.’
She went on to reiterate her views that Black History Month and the BET awards only encourage segregation, and slammed those actors who opted to boycott the Academy Awards.
