How anyone could be so ruthless is quite scary. Haruka’s body was found in a creek on the University of Texas just this week. Students discovered the body because of the smell.
Austin police said Friday they have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the killing of a University of Texas freshman this week.
Haruka Weiser, an 18-year-old dance and theater major, was last seen alive on the Austin campus Sunday night before she was reported missing the following morning. Her body was discovered near a creek on Tuesday.
A news conference was planned for 10:30 a.m. CT / 11:30 a.m. ET.
On the night Weiser disappeared, a suspect was caught on surveillance walking around the area at about 10 p.m. and again after 11 p.m. while steering around a red or pink women’s bike, police said Thursday. Authorities described the suspect as a black man about 6-feet-tall.
Police added that Weiser was “assaulted,” but declined to detail the nature of the crime because the investigation is ongoing.
No weapon was recovered from the scene, and police said there was no immediate indication that the suspect is a fellow UT Austin student.
