Students living in the Washington, D.C., area performed a “lie-in” protest outside the White House to show their anger towards gun violence.
The demonstration comes just days after 17 people were murdered by Nikolas Cruz in Parkland, FL., at the Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School.
Cruz was taken into custody moments after his attack and was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.
Students from the high school and other campuses have been very vocal about pushing for gun control after the Parkland shooting.
Students also appeared on television throughout the weekend to call for an organized march in an effort to hold lawmakers accountable.
“The people in the government who are voted into power are lying to us. And us kids seem to be the only ones who notice and our parents to call ‘B.S.,’ ” student Emma Gonzalez said. “We are prepared to call ‘B.S.’ ”
