It is 2:30 in the morning. Your small children are sound asleep in the room next to yours and the man of the house is working an overnight shift. As you lie in bed, you hear a shuffle outside your window. You quickly sit up as a large man crashes through that window and onto your bedroom floor. What do you do?
This is a scenario, along with many other similar stories, that we hear of far too frequently. In a society where threats are lurking around every corner, we cannot afford to allow our 2nd Amendment rights, our one source of protection, to be taken from us. Let me give you a little history lesson.
In 17th century England, it was a legal obligation that every household possess a gun to protect themselves. Yes, a legal obligation. Not a right. These individuals were not only responsible for protecting their homes, but were also accountable to their neighbors as well. On the American Frontier of the 18th century, every household owned a gun and every woman knew how to use this weapon. It was essential to the survival and protection of their families. There were even various states where it was a legal requirement that every capable member within a single household possess a gun. This became a vital source of protection during the American Revolution when many women were left to defend their property and their families while the men were away fighting for their freedom. There were no “gun free zones”. These women stood their ground, legally and courageously. If there was even a minuscule chance that their lives were in danger, these incredible ladies had their guns by their sides; locked, loaded, and ready to aim with either a shotgun, pistol, or both.
As a wife, mother, and American citizen of this blessed nation, I take my 2nd Amendment rights very seriously. Should the initial scenario present itself at my home, I intend to take that said person down; regardless of whether my husband is home or not. I am entitled to that and should be “allowed” to protect my home and my family as has been done in history. Unfortunately, victims are now painted as the bad guy. This is a sham and insanity at its finest!
This country is quickly changing with all of the predicted gun laws and currently enacted gun free zones. Look at schools for example. If you do some research, you will find that there are a myriad of situations where an individual entered a school campus with the intent to harm. Coincidentally, you will find that a majority of these schools are also gun free zones. Will my daughters and son attend a school with a gun free zone? Absolutely not. Why? Because I don’t want to hear of a dill weed, like Adam Lanza, waltzing into that school on a suicide mission and putting my child’s life in danger; all for the sake of being politically acceptable.
Ladies and gentlemen, there is no better time than now to take a stand and make your voices heard. We cannot afford to be conveniently disarmed by a government that intends to control the very essence of whom we, the law abiding citizens, are and who we have worked so hard to become.
