What happens when baseball meets gymnastics? Well, a pretty epic dive for home plate!
Blue Jays player Chris Coghlan thought he would give flying to the home base a chance, shocking fans when he bounded over Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina.
At the top of the seventh inning, Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar hit a deep shot into right field. Coghlan was on first base, saw his chance, and bolted.
The Cardinals retrieved the ball and attempted to get Coghlan out on third, but they were too slow. He was already sprinting for home.
He and the ball reached the base at the same time. When Molina caught the ball, he attempted to tag Coghlan out. But things don’t always work the way you want them to.
Coghlan launched himself over the catcher, landed in a somersault, and scored!
Not only is this epic to watch, what’s even more impressive is that no one got hurt!
Just take a look at these pictures!
Good for Coghlan!
And who says watching baseball is boring?
