A man attempting to rob a convenience store thought he was going to make a quick buck. Boy, was he wrong!
The robber, identified as 30-year-old Derrell Mayes, approached a female cashier on her smoking break outside the St. Louis 7/11 at 3:50 in the morning.
When Mayes tried to rob the clerk with his firearm, she responded by brandishing her own.
The two then fired at each other. There were 9 to 10 shots fired. Both the clerk and Mayes were hit, but in Mayes case, he was not the winner.
He had been fatally struck in the chest as well as his thigh and arm. The woman was hit twice in her leg but will make a full recovery.
From The Daily Wire:
Davon Dodson was working with the female clerk that night – his first night on the job – and promptly resigned from his position following the shooting to avoid being placed in a similar situation in the future. But he was glad that the clerk defended herself against Mayes.
“I was glad she protected herself,” Dodson told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “We’re calling her a she-ro.”
The “she-ro” was described by the Post-Dispatch‘s as a pleasant, diligent mother. Mayes, on the other hand, has a history of criminality, which included “burglary, assault and gun charges.”
Has she not been armed, the outcome could have been turned around, and put people inside the store in danger. This woman truly is a “she-ro”, all because she chose to practice her Second Amendment right.
