Erik Loomis, a professor at the University of Rhode Island, went on a profanity-laced tirade on Twitter, calling the NRA a terrorist organization and saying he wanted to see the head of NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre “on a stick,” Campus Reform reported Monday.
“I was heartbroken in the first 20 mass murders. Now I want Wayne LaPierre’s head on a stick,” he wrote.
Twitchy reported Tuesday that Loomis walked back his comment, calling it a “metaphor,” but said he wanted to see LaPierre in prison.
“Dear rightwingers, to be clear, I don’t want to see Wayne LaPierre dead. I want to see him in prison for the rest of his life,” he tweeted, after his original call for LaPierre’s decapitation was reported by Campus Reform.
Nevertheless, Loomis continued his tirade, blaming the NRA for the school shootings in Connecticut and claiming that reports of his tweet amounts to “intimidation” adding that there is some correlation between conservative reports of his violent messages and those “who think Obama is the Kenyan usurper.”
