Under Trump, illegal immigration is taken much more seriously. Trump hasn’t fulfilled all his promises yet, but that still doesn’t mean stuff isn’t getting done.
According to ICE, in the first 100 days since President Trump signed his Executive Orders regarding immigration, they have arrested more than 41,000 individuals who are either known or suspected of being in the country illegally.
From a comparable period in 2016, this number is up 37.6%!
Between January 22 and April 29, 2017, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) deportation officers administratively arrested 41,318 individuals on civil immigration charges. Between January 24 and April 30, 2016, ERO arrested 30,028.
ICE Acting Director Thomas Homan stated:
These statistics reflect President Trump’s commitment to enforce our immigration laws fairly and across the board.
ICE agents and officers have been given clear direction to focus on threats to public safety and national security, which has resulted in a substantial increase in the arrest of convicted criminal aliens.
However, when we encounter others who are in the country unlawfully, we will execute our sworn duty and enforce the law.
As the data demonstrates, ICE continues to execute our mission professionally and in accordance with the law, and our communities will be much safer for it.
What’s even better, about 75% of those arrested were convicted criminals. Arrests of “aliens at-large” have skyrocketed from 8,381 last year to 12,766 this year. ICE has also said they have arrested 1,095 confirmed gang members and associates.
Doing the math, we find this averages out to about 400 arrests per day.
Border crossings have declined and arrests have gone up. Enforcing immigration laws will help keep out neighborhoods safer and show everyone that we are a country not to be messed with.
This is some amazing news. Don’t you think so?
