Alert: High School Shooting, One Dead and Multiple Wounded

Reports coming out of Kentucky have stated a shooter opened fire on a high school in the city of Benton. Officials stated one person was killed and several others were injured at the Marshall County High School.

The school sits about 120 miles northwest of Nashville, Tenn. Allegedly the school was on lockdown as police worked at the scene of the crime.

According to the governor of Kentucky, Matt Bevin, the shooter is now in custody and the threat to the school is no longer there.

Tweeting this morning, Bevin stated: “Tragic shooting at Marshall County HS…Shooter is in custody, one confirmed fatality, multiple others wounded…Much yet unknown…”

The statement continued,”Please do not speculate or spread hearsay…Let’s let the first responders do their job and be grateful that they are there to do it for us…”

Rep. James Comer tweeted: “My thoughts & prayers go out to the students & faculty at Marshall County High School where there has been a tragic school shooting.”
