#BlackLivesMatter: ‘Protest’ in Baltimore as Freddie Gray Hearing Begins

Screen Shot 2015-09-02 at 9.31.56 AMThese people aren’t going away anytime soon.

Protesters turned out Wednesday in front of a Baltimore courthouse where six police officers appeared to face charges in connection with the death of a black male who died while in custody in April.

Activists carrying yellow signs with slogans including, “Stop racism now,” gathered outside the Baltimore City Circuit Courthouse East, the Associated Press reports. They chanted: “Indict, convict, send those killer cops to jail. The whole damn system is guilty as hell” and “Tell the truth and stop the lies, Freddie Gray didn’t have to die.”

The police department reported one arrest, but without use of a Taser. “Most protesters are cooperating and not blocking roadways,” the department said in a statement in Twitter.
