Carjacker Gets Capped: Victim of Attempted Carjacking Fatally Shoots Assailant

Crime sceneA motorist, believed to be a retired NYPD officer, fatally shot one of two men attempting to carjack him at a Brooklyn intersection early Tuesday.

Police say the 55-year-old victim was stopped at a red light at Georgia Avenue and Linden Avenue in the East New York section when he was approached by two men just before 3:15 a.m.

The suspects ordered the driver out of his vehicle, demanded cash and attempted to carjack him.

A scuffled ensued, and the driver fired one shot at the suspects.

One of them, 18-year-old Manuel Ocampo, was struck in the head and pronounced dead at Brookdale University Hospital.
