screen-shot-2016-09-17-at-9-46-42-amDems will blame this on our lack of gun control. Never mind the fact that police have become the target of violence all over this country. Prayers are with the victims and their families.

A gunman was shot dead in Philadelphia after he ambushed and shot two police officers and four civilians, killing one of the bystanders, in a ‘targeted attack on police’.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said Sgt. Sylvia Young, 46, was ambushed late Friday night and shot a number of times in the arm and upper body but she was wearing a protective vest so survived.

He said Ed Miller, a former police officer who is now a member of the police force at the University of Pennsylvania, was also wounded.

A note believed to be written by the shooter was recovered near Young’s car.

It allegedly contained rambling anti-police rhetoric and named a parole officer as a target, Ross said.

A 25-year-old woman was killed after she was shot seven times in the torso, according to CNN. One of the three wounded civilians was in critical condition, police said.

The suspect was cornered in an alley and fatally shot by police, the commissioner said.

The gunman fired 15 rounds into Young’s squad car – she was shot at least eight times but was wearing a bulletproof vest.

Sources say Miller, 56, was shot in the hand and that Young – a 19-year police veteran assigned to North Philadelphia’s 22nd Police District- was shot up to eight times directly into her vest while sitting in her patrol car, according to the New York Daily News.

The shooting occurred a few blocks from the Penn campus.
