Human body parts have been found in garbage bags dumped along snowy roads in a rural area of Michigan, authorities said.
The body parts are believed to belong to one white male, St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon said Friday. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday afternoon.
For the sheriff’s office, the sinister case began Thursday afternoon.
A woman called to tell them she had “located something suspicious” in an area a few miles from the Canadian border, said Deputy Steven Campau.
When they arrived on the scene, law enforcement officers discovered the garbage bags and their gruesome contents on two adjoining roads. This article continues at cnn.com
A 59-year-old St. Clair Shores woman is in police custody in connection to the body parts found in China and St. Clair townships, according to a statement from the St. Clair Shores Police and St. Clair County Sheriff Department.
The body was found in pieces Thursday along Allington Road and Fred Moore Highway are that of a 32-year-old St. Clair Shores man, according to the statement.
He was reported missing Jan. 26. Police took fingerprints from the dismembered body and forwarded them to the Federal Bureau of Bureau of Investigation where they were compared with prior prints taken from the missing man and the identification was made.
St. Clair Shores Police Sgt. Jay Cohoe said the suspect is the victim’s mother.
