The month of June has delivered one massive blow, after the other for CNN.
We may be witnessing the sinking of the fake news network.
Three employees resigned from CNN after the publication of a Russia-related article that was retracted. Thomas Frank, who wrote the story in question; Eric Lichtblau, an editor in the unit; and Lex Haris, who oversaw the unit.
Then there was undercover footage showing one producer for the fake news network stating the Russia story/narrative is all ‘bullsh*t’.
Here is a partial transcript:
P.V. Journalist: “So you believe the Russia thing is a little crazy, right?”
John Bonifield (CNN Producer): “Even if Russian was trying to swing an election, we try to swing their elections, our CIA is doing shit all the time, we’re out there trying to manipulate governments. You win because you know the game, you play it right. She (Hillary) didn’t play it right.”
PV Journalist: “Then why is CNN constantly like Russia this, Russia that?”
John Bonifield: “Because it’s ratings. Our ratings are incredible right now.”
Bonifield just laughed at the notions that the media has an ethical responsibility to report the truth. He said, “it’s a business” and “they gotta what they gotta do to make money.”
PV Journalist: “But honestly, you think the whole Russia shit is just bullshit right?”
Bonifield: “Could be bullshit. I mean it’s mostly bullshit right now. Like, we don’t have any big giant proof.”
He said that if there was solid proof, we would know about it by now.
And he actually sided with Trump, “I think the President is probably right to say, like, look, you are witch-hunting me. You have no smoking gun, you have no real proof.”
And finally, according to the Independent Journal Review, CNN had a total of four journalism faux pas in June.
Talk about one shit storm after the other and subsequently network ratings are sinking.
But when you have such low standards for journalism and truth, it’s surprising this hadn’t happened sooner.
According to the Blaze: On Tuesday, CNN’s primetime viewership peaked at only 886,000 overall viewers, whereas MSNBC peaked at 2.77M and Fox News peaked at 2.79M viewers. In the coveted 25-54-year-old demographic, CNN was only able to amass 308,000 viewers at its peak.
On Wednesday, it was much of the same. CNN peaked at 908,000 viewers where Fox and MSNBC both peaked over 2 million. The 25-54-year-old demographic was just as dismal.
But on Thursday, CNN was able to pick it up a little, and they carried just over 1 million viewers during Anderson Cooper’s and Don Lemon’s shows. However, they still trailed behind MSNBC and Fox by more than a million peak viewers.
Things got even worse Friday night after CNN producers aired a fake cover from National Enquirer as something real.
CNN's total viewership from Wednesday. That their primetime lineup is all under 1 million is something else…this a major issue. pic.twitter.com/U1WSQwHRoE

You can only feed fake news to people for so long before they start figuring it out.
Is it time for the network to call it quits before things get really bad?
