The former VP told a crowd at Colgate University that he regrets not running for president and that he could have beaten Trump.
Biden did not run for the office because of the death of his son. But when asked if you had any regrets, he let his feelings be known.
“I think I could’ve won,” Biden told university president Brian W. Casey. “I had a lot of data. I was fairly confident that if I was the Democratic Party nominee, I had a better-than-even chance of being president.”
He talked about how qualified he was as a candidate but then said how he could not bring himself to run for the presidency so soon after his son Beau’s death.
“At the end of the day, I just couldn’t do it.”
Yes, we agree that Biden would have been more well received by Democrats than Hillary was, but would it have been enough? We won’t ever know, and that’s likely a good thing.
