DALLAS, GEORGIA – A woman who was brutally attacked on the Silver Comet Trail Tuesday evening remains in the hospital after undergoing surgery. Her family says it’s one of many ahead of her.

A spokesperson for the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office tells FOX 5 News that a passing bicyclist noticed Tina Waddell on the side of the trail near Academy Drive around 6:42 p.m. Tuesday. The 42-year-old woman was taken by helicopter to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Family members released pictures of Waddell on Thursday as a warning to others. The family asks for the public’s support as she continues to recover.

“It was awful,” said Peter Skott who found the woman. “Her head was just disfigured.”

Investigators say Waddell was jumped while walking on the bridge over Academy Drive and Vernoy Aiken Road. She was then dragged into the woods and was severely beaten about the head and face.
