Mexican Justice: Judge Orders U.S. Marine to Stay Imprisoned Over Gun Charges

This man is being held in Mexico on trumped-up charges and has been reported to have been mistreated to the point of attempting suicide. If we don’t defend our own, who will?

25-year-old U.S. Marine veteran Andrew Tahmooressi was arrested by Mexican authorities March 31 for driving into Mexico with three firearms in his truck.

It is illegal to go into Mexico with firearms. Tahmooressi says he accidentally crossed into the border, and asked to be allowed to turn around. A 911 call obtained by U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) appears to support that claim. However, because he was on Mexican soil, 911 was unable to provide assistance.

After being detained for over 100 days, Tahmooressi appeared in court on July 9 and was ordered by the judge in the case to remain in custody.
