NEW LAW: Texas Governor Tells ‘Sanctuary Cities’ Where to Stick it

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has had enough! Trump might have had his sanctuary city legislation so ludicrously blocked, but that hasn’t stopped Texas.

The governor signed into law a bill that bans sanctuary cities. And it’s no joking matter. Law enforcement who fail to comply with the law can face fines, termination of employment and even jail time.

Don’t mess with Texas indeed!

In a statement posted on Facebook Live, Abbott said, “Citizens expect law enforcement officers to enforce the law. Citizen deserve law breakers to face legal consequences.”

So, are you wondering if local jurisdictions can simply decide no to enforce the law? Nope!

Abbott said, “Elected officials and law enforcement agencies, they don’t get to pick and choose which laws they will obey.”

The law, which will take effect Sept. 1, orders all law enforcement officials to work with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents (sanctuary cities vow not to aid the feds in any way). More, the law requires local law officials to honor agency “detainers,” which are requests by the federal government to hold someone until it is determined whether the detainee should be deported.

Abbott slammed Travis County Sheriff Sally Hernandez for refusing to honor such detainers. “This law cracks down on policies like [those held by] the Travis County sheriff, who declared that she would not detain known criminals accused of violent crimes,” said Abbott. “Those policies are sanctuary city policies and won’t be tolerated in Texas.”

The governor also referred to the murder of Kate Steinle, killed by illegal alien Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez in San Francisco — a sanctuary city — saying that refusing to enforcer the law has “deadly consequences.”

The Daily Wire

The liberal Washington Post slammed Abbott for signing the bill earlier than expected, “thereby avoiding demonstrations opponents planned for later in the week when they thought he was going to put his signature on the legislation.”

“While Abbott’s spokesman said he was just trying to reach a wide audience, critics called Abbott ‘cowardly’ for springing the signing without notice.”

What crybabies!

Don’t worry though, Abbott wasn’t fazed by any of it. He ended his statement by saying: “Texas has now banned sanctuary cities in the Lone Star state.”

The take away from this: DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS!
