THE NUMBERS LOOK GRIM: Liberals Won’t Be Happy With This Latest Poll on Sanctuary Cities

A new Rasmussen poll has come out and Liberals don’t want to see the numbers. It shows a small minority of voters would want to live in sanctuary cities where criminal illegal immigrants are shielded from federal immigration law.

In fact, only 35 percent of Americans said they would like to live in a community that declared itself a “sanctuary city”. With 52 percent saying no way and another 14 percent on the fence, this is not what Democrats were hoping for.

The break down of people is also very interesting. Working-class people are the least likely to accept a sanctuary city (25 percent supporting, 63 percent opposing). The wealthy on the other hand, didn’t seem as concerned (41 percent supporting, 40 percent opposing). Maybe it’s because they can install and hire better security?

Even people who identify as “liberal” felt lukewarm on the issue. Roughly 54 percent said they would want to live in one, while 34 percent did not.

These numbers shouldn’t come as a surprise. Many people believe that sanctuary cities are not safe. Some 43 percent of 18- to 39-year-olds agree that sanctuary communities are less safe than non-sanctuary communities. That is quite the difference to the 20 percent that say they are safer.

So what do you think? Are enough people finally in agreement to make sanctuary cities a thing of the past? We hope so!
