5155271A retired music radio icon was nabbed on Thursday by law enforcement for allegedly attempting to transport a 7-year-old girl from Bergen County, N.J., to the Caribbean in order to sexually abuse the child, according to Homeland Security Investigations officials.

David Herman, who owns homes in Airmont, N.Y., and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands was arrested by HSI special agents at the St. Croix airport where was supposed to meet the child and the child’s mother.

According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, Herman initiated a series of Internet chats on a web site with an undercover officer from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office whom he believed was the mother of a 6-year-old daughter.

Beginning with that initial online chat with the fictitious mother of a fictitious child in November 2012, the 77-year-old music radio rebel had multiple telephone and Internet communications including Herman’s first attempt at arranging a sexual liaison with the girl in either New York or in New Jersey.
