Steve Scalise is Still Fighting for His Life, Released from ICU Still in ‘Serious Condition’

It has been several weeks since crazed liberal gunman James Hodgkinson, 66, fired his gun at a GOP congressional baseball practice.

Now, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise is still suffering from the wounds inflicted on him that day.

He has been hospitalized since June 14, after Scalise and four other Republicans were injured during the attack.

The Louisiana congressman and third-ranking House Republican was struck in the hip , and the bullet tore into blood vessels, bones and internal organs.

The injuries have left him in fluctuating conditions.

Scalise has left the ICU at MedStar Washington Hospital Center one week after he was admitted with a serious infection.

Scalise had been improving in recent weeks following surgeries, and the hospital had even downgraded his condition to ‘serious’ from ‘fair.’

But on June 5 it was announced that he had developed a serious infection and that he would have to be readmitted to the ICU.

A lobbyist for Tyson Foods, Matt Mika, a Capitol Hill staffer, Zack Barth, and two Capitol Police officers, David Bailey and Crystal Griner, were also wounded in the shooting.

All are expected to make complete recoveries.

People witnessing the shooting stated there were several minutes during the attack that Scalise just lay bleeding, unable to receive medical attention because Hodgkinson was still active.

He indicated he was able to get control of the external wound, but wasn’t aware of whether there were internal injuries or internal blood loss.

Representative Mo Brooks described working with Wenstrup to use a belt to make a tourniquet to staunch wounds.

Scalise, who was shot in the hip, was rushed to hospital via helicopter in shock, with intense internal bleeding.

A doctor at the time said that there were ‘hundreds’ of bullet fragments left in his body after the shooting.

Hodgkinson had opened fire from behind the third base dugout while the players were on the field.

Senator Rand Paul, who was at the scene but was not injured, described it as a ‘killing field’, while Michigan Representative Mike Bishop said the men were ‘sitting ducks’ for the gunman and his M4 rifle.

Keep Steve Scalise in your prayers to make a full recovery.

Several Democrats have expressed their delight in the GOP shooting, by a tacky display of arrogance hoping that Scalise dies.

Let’s not give them that satisfaction.
