In an incredible moment of heroism a homeless man came to the rescue of a female cop who was getting attacked by a suspect she was trying to arrest.
Cray Turmon rushed to the officer’s defense before things got too out of control, Fox News reported.
“She’s a woman slammed to the ground and she’s an officer. … I saw her belongings hit the ground,” Turmon said. “She’d done everything she could. … It was going to get ugly, ya know? Something had to be done.”
Turmon also stated he is disgusted seeing all the violence in our society today and people standing by doing nothing to help, which is why he came to the officer’s rescue.
“Someone’s got to stand up,” Turmon continued. “Someone told me if you don’t stand up for something, you’ll fall for anything. So I stood for something yesterday.”
South Carolina Police arrested and charged Donald Songster Brown, 39, with attempted murder, armed robbery, and kidnapping. Brown allegedly threatened people inside a gas station with a knife, punching one woman.
Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook honored Turmon for his courageous act by awarding him with a certificate to commemorate his “extraordinary actions to preserve life and aid public safety.”
