The wildly popular movie “American Sniper” is taking dead aim at a box office record — it’s set to pass “Saving Private Ryan” as the top grossing war film of all time in the United States.
The biopic about the U.S. military’s deadliest sniper, the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, had a bang-up week two in wide release — marking the best second weekend ever by an R-rated movie, according to the website imdb.com.
“In the process, ‘American Sniper’ hit the $200 million mark in domestic grosses just 10 days after earning nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor and four other Oscar nominations.”
Apparently still loving being in the bright spotlight of controversy over his dogged dissing of the movie, lefty filmmaker Michael Moore continued taking shots at “Sniper” with another series of sarcastic tweets
