WINNING: Rocky Mountain Gun Owners Repeal Open Carry Ban

gun ownersRocky Mountain Gun Owners (RMGO) led the effort in Castle Rock, CO as town councilmembers voted 4-3 Tuesday night to repeal the open carry ban, allowing residents greater freedom to defend themselves in places such as government buildings and parks.

RMGO immediately took action, mobilizing and informing thousands of Second Amendment supporters in Castle Rock, through email and social media, to contact their councilmembers in support of full repeal of the open carry ban.

RMGO members flooded the phones and emails of the city councilors and showed up in droves to the city hearing to defend their rights.

Tuesday night’s town hall meeting consisted of four hours of public testimony and an hour of councilmember deliberations, where Mayor Paul Donahue, Councilmembers Jennifer Green, Renee Valentine and Mayor Pro Tem Joe Procopio voted with their constituents to repeal the open carry ban.

“Our freedoms are constantly being stripped away and the decision to repeal the open carry ban sets Colorado on a course of restoring freedom, rather than limiting it,” said Joe Neville, Political Director of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners. “Castle Rock Second Amendment supporters stood up for their rights and in doing so have invigorated gun rights supporters across the country.”

Rocky Mountain Gun Owners is Colorado’s largest state-based gun lobby, solely dedicated to the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
