Sarah Lockner, who was a McDonald’s cashier in Redwood City, California, was arrested for trying to flush her newborn baby in the toilet in her workplace’s bathroom.
The day of the incident Lockner was in and out of the bathroom frequently, complaining that her stomach was upset.
After being allowed early leave, she stayed in the bathroom. Due to the bizarre behavior a co-worked decided to check in on her and saw blood on the floor.
Via Daily Wire: According to the San Mateo County district attorney, Lockner told the co-worker that the blood was from a heavy menstrual period. Then another co-worker showed up, peered over the stall and allegedly saw the newborn boy face-down in the toilet with Lockner’s hand on its back.
The co-worker told investigators she heard the toilet flush; Lockner allegedly discouraged the witness from alerting police. By the time the police arrived, the baby had no pulse and was not breathing. Swiftly taken to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, the baby initially was in a medically-induced coma.
San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe told the Los Angeles Times that the boy improved to be in stable condition, although the extent of the baby’s brain injuries is unknown.
The woman claimed she had no knowledge of her pregnancy. Lockner is now being held on $11 million bail and charged with attempted murder and inflicting great bodily harm to a child.
