WOW: 2 of Ted Cruz’s Biggest Donors Just DISSED Him Publicly

Talk about embarrassment. Did Ted just kill his political career?

After a back-and-forth between Trump and Cruz following the speech, Republicans remain divided on the decision, including people in Cruz’s Texas delegation.

But one family that matters a great deal to Cruz’s future is hopping off the fence with a rare public announcement. In a statement to The New York Times, Robert Mercer and his daughter Rebekah Mercer reminded Cruz of his pledge:

“Last summer and again this year, Senator Ted Cruz pledged to support the candidacy of the nominee of the Republican Party, whomever that nominee might be.”

The Mercers were major financial supporters during Cruz’s presidential bid, providing generous support to Super PACs that spread the message of Cruz, and they were not happy with his decision.

They expressed their disappointment:

“We are profoundly disappointed that on Wednesday night he chose to disregard this pledge.”

“The Democratic Party will soon choose as their nominee a candidate who would repeal both the First and Second Amendments of the Bill of Rights, a nominee who would remake the Supreme Court in her own image. We need ‘all hands on deck’ to ensure that Mr. Trump prevails.”

“Unfortunately,” the statement added, “Senator Cruz has chosen to remain in his bunk below, a decision both regrettable and revealing.”
